When the sun gets in your eyes...

Jack was riding his bike in our circle this afternoon as the sun sank lower towards the horizon. He'd been out there for a good while when suddenly he stopped riding and started crying with his "hurt" cry. I went to him and asked what was wrong.

His response: "Da sun ud duh bonk ud duh eyes."

Translation: "The sun bonked me in the eyes."

I just had to laugh as I went to find his hat. I put it on under his helmet and he stayed out to ride for another hour.

A note about the bike: Yes, I know it's a girls bike. We just weren't prepared for him to be into bike riding when he was 2 1/2, or for him to get so good at it so quickly. By mid-summer we'll probably have to take off the training wheels. It scares me a little. I can see dirtbiking in his not-so-distant future...

  1. Wow!!! Already riding a bike and he won't be three for another couple of months! That's crazy! Ashley hasn't even sat on a bike yet. I was thinking of getting a trike for her third birthday. Then I came to the realization a few weeks ago that she'll probably only use it for a few months. So I'm guessing we'll be buying a bike with training wheels!

  2. totally love this post!!! I can't believe how big he's getting, or how absolutely adorable he is! BTW, Jason's comment was "NIIIICE" about the dirt biking in the future. He can't wait! We love and miss you guys bunches!!!

  3. He is one tough kid! Wish we lived closer too. Miss you as always.
